Airline showcases the West of Ireland

Airline showcases the West of Ireland to over 180 of their top-selling UK travel agents, as the ideal destination for short breaks and family holidays from the UK

When airline launched their new London Gatwick scheduled service at Ireland West Airport Knock last December, they took the opportunity to bring a number of UK journalists to Westport for a weekend to cover the inaugural celebrations and experience a taste of what the new service had to offer for UK residents.

And such was their experience that Martin Lock, Managing Director of XL Airways, recommended that their trade division, Freedom Flights, make Westport the destination of choice for the annual Freedom Flights Spectacular – a weekend away to one of any XL destinations for their top-selling UK travel agents. Speaking of their experience, Phil Norris, Sales and Marketing Director of Freedom Flights, said: “Whilst most of these agents have travelled extensively abroad, few had been to this most attractive corner of before and they were all impressed with the location, the amount of activities available and above all the warm and friendly welcome from everyone they met. I am sure we will see an increase in tourists traveling on the London Gatwick – Ireland West Knock route in light of this event.”
