Ireland West Airport Knock Launches 2008 Holiday Charter Programme at Travel Trade Event

 

West & North West Gain More Holiday Choices Growth Expected to Contribute Over 90,000 Passengers in 2008

 
On Wednesday, 21st November 2007, Ireland West Airport Knock announced its 2008 Holiday Charter Programme at a special travel trade event for tour operators and travel Agents at Lisloughrey Lodge Hotel in Cong, Co Mayo. The Airport’s new charter flight programme will see an increasing range of holiday choices to sun and ski destinations in Europe available for customers in the West and North West region in 2008.
 
Almost 40 leading Irish tour operators and travel agents attended the event at which Ireland West Airport Knock’s CEO, Robert Grealis, thanked them for their continued support and business in 2007. Mr Grealis also outlined the key developments which the Airport was undertaking currently in order that the Airport continues to be the number one most convenient airport of choice for 70% of all adults in the wider region.
 
Following presentations on the Airport’s marketing developments by members of the marketing team at Ireland West Airport Knock, Annette Kearney, Marketing and Route Development Manager, outlined the initiatives supporting the travel trade industry to be undertaken in 2008. Annette Kearney said: “We are very pleased with the growth of the holiday charter business at the Airport and for the continued support of Ireland’s tour operators and the region’s travel agents. They continue to make a very significant contribution to the Airport’s development as well as enabling customers in the West and North West to have direct, convenient and value for money holiday choices on their doorstep. In 2008, Ireland West Knock will serve some 18 European holiday destinations, both sun and ski, and the Airport’s staff look forward to providing a high level of customer service to over 90,000 holiday passenger in 2008. This represents a three-fold growth in charter passengers since 2003. “
 
Special guest speaker at the event was Ms Doreen McKenzie, Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Personality Award winner in 1998, and Proprietor of Knock Travel, Belfast – ranked in the top six corporate travel companies in the UK. Ms McKenzie has a wealth of experience in travel and tourism in the UK and overseas and has had many roles within the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA). Ms McKenzie spoke about how her company has adopted to the very competitive travel industry marketplace and the initiatives which she has put in place to deliver the most professional and best value for money service.
