The area of Digbeth in Birmingham’s city centre has strong links with the Irish community and for this reason it is commonly referred to as the Irish Quarter. The area is home to many Irish pubs, perhaps most famous of these is The Dubliner, The Irish Centre is also situated in Digbeth.

The Irish Quarter is currently undergoing a renaissance with the development of Connaught Square - 658 apartments, a 180-bed hotel, 36 serviced apartments, shops, offices, bars, restaurants, more than 1,000 car parking spaces and two public squares are planned in the area.

And Digbeth is naturally the setting for Birmingham’s annual St Patrick’s Day Parade which has attracted crowds of over one hundred thousand, making it the largest in the country.
