Ireland West Airport Knock Wins International Aviation Award

Ireland West Airport Knock are delighted to announce that the Airport has been awarded an Honorary Group Diploma from the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI). Ireland West Airport Knock was nominated for this prestigious award by the National Aero Club of Ireland in May 2008 for the developments it brought to the West of Ireland on a social and economic level as well for its rapid growth in recent years. The FAI Group Award will be presented to the Airport at the Opening Ceremony of the FAI General Conference in Aosta Valley, Italy on Thursday, 2nd October 2008.  Ireland West Airport Knock will be the only Irish organisation to receive an Honorary Group Diploma with other recipients hailing from USA and other parts of Europe. 
 
Commenting on the Award, Robert Grealis, CEO, Ireland West Airport Knock said: “On behalf of the Board, Management and staff of the Airport, we are honoured to receive this prestigious international award. I would like to especially thank the National Aero Club of Ireland for nominating the Airport for this Award. We are privileged that the Airport has been recognised on an international stage. This award must be credited to all the staff and stakeholders of the Airport and to all our passengers, whose support is key to the Airport’s continued development”.
 
The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), the world's air sports federation, was founded in 1905.It is a non-governmental and non-profit making international organisation with the basic aim of furthering aeronautical and astronautical activities worldwide. Ever growing, FAI is now an organisation with some 100 member countries. FAI awards  give public recognition to those who have made outstanding contributions to aeronautics and astronautics. The National Aero Club of Ireland is the representative body for all air sports in Ireland and is affiliated to the FAI.
