Sunway are delighted to be offering holidays direct to Lanzarote from Ireland West Airport Knock for Summer 2010. The first charter departed today, Friday 11th June, with a full flight of happy holiday-makers off to the sun.

Commenting on the commencement of the first flight, Sharon Jordan, Product Manager, Sunway said: ' We are absolutely delighted to see our first flight depart from Ireland West Airport Knock to Lanzarote this weekend with a full load.  Lanzarote continues to be a firm favourite with Irish Holidaymakers due to its excellent value for money. In particular we would like to take this opportunity to thank the hard working travel agents who have been fantastic in supporting the new Lanzarote service from Ireland West Airport Knock. Travelling with Sunway means that our clients can be assured that they are with a major tour operator offering fully bonded holidays.”

Donal Healy, Marketing Manager at Ireland West Knock said: “It is great to see the first Sunway operated programme to Lanzarote taking off today filled to capacity. We are confident that the hugely popular Lanzarote programme will be well received for the duration of the summer by the public and travel agents in the region and we have no doubt these holiday packages to Lanzarote will prove to be hugely successful as they offer some fantastic incentives such as all inclusive holiday packages from just €399* per person for holidays in July.  We look forward to working with the Sunway team for the remainder of the summer and wish them every success in their new venture at the Airport.”

A sunshine holiday haven, the island of Lanzarote sits along the same latitude as Florida and the western Sahara, virtually guaranteeing average daily temperatures of seventy degrees or more in winter!
It's just as well, because a holiday here centres largely around the sea with its excellent watersports, marvelous beaches and secluded coves. There are alternatives, however, including the capital of Arrecife, a historic port town with a fortress, museum and gallery of modern art.

The Timanfaya National Park should also top your sightseeing agenda. Its dark, dramatic landscape is home to the lava fields and awesome craters of Fire Mountain as well as Cueva de los Verdes, an immense volcanic tube, which extends for more than five kilometres down to the sea.

Lanzarote is a mecca for watersport enthusiasts, every type is available including surfing, windsurfing and jet skiing, plus there's a sub-aqua school in Costa Teguise and scuba diving facilities in Puerto del Carmen. Most of the island's resorts are in the South East with all new developments built to compliment their surroundings. Costa Teguise is quiet and relaxing whilst lively Puerto del Carmen parties from dusk 'til dawn!
